Have you ever wanted to have a go on the potters' wheel?
Or want to fine tune your techniques to make more complicated pieces?
Do you have a potters' wheel at home and would like to learn how to use it?
Are you stuck on what to do with your pots and dont know how to glaze them?
I am a qualified potter with over 17 years experience and can give tuition and guidance at any level.
For the beginner, I can introduce you to the art of 'throwing' and show you the basic techniques for you to build upon.
For those who wish to improve your skills, I can show you the 'tricks of the trade' which will help build your confidence in making the more complicated assemblages such as teapots.
I can also give basic earthenware glaze tuition to enable you to understand how these glazes work and guide you to making your own.
Tuition is on a one-to-one basis and is flexible to suit your needs. You are welcome to have the one lesson to enable you to throw your own pot to have fired and take home at a later date, or have regular lessons over any period of time to develop your skills.Tuition can be given at the Somerset Crafts Gallery at Shapwick, near Westhay in Somerset, at my workshop in Huntworth, or if you have your own potters' wheel, I can come to you.
Prices are at £35 per hour to include clay and the use of tools and equiptment. Finished pieces can be fired at an extra charge at £1 per 1lb in weight.
A mileage charge of 30p per mile from Bridgwater will be charged for me to come to you.
